Manage Your Team and Project Permissions
This article explains the different roles and permissions within an Indeemo project and how to manage your team, including adding colleagues and changing the project owner.
Overview of Roles & Permissions
This guide explains the different roles and permissions available for your team on the Indeemo dashboard.
You will also learn how to manage team members, including adding colleagues and changing the Project Owner.
Key Rule: Each team member can be assigned only one role per account.
Moderator
The Moderator is the standard researcher role with broad access to project views and operations.
- Access: Moderators can access every view on the Indeemo dashboard.
- Permissions: Moderators can create new projects and run standard project operations.
Project Owner
The Project Owner is a Moderator who has created a project. This role grants an added layer of full administrative permissions specifically for that project.
The Project Owner is the only role empowered to perform these critical administrative actions on their specific project:
- Change target group settings and add new target groups.
- Add new task lists.
- Control project access (add/remove Moderators and Observers).
- Request media exports.
- Extend and end fieldwork.
Observer
The Observer role provides read-only access, intended for stakeholders who need to view participant uploads without interacting with the project or respondents.
Recruiter
The Recruiter role has focused permissions, granting full access to the participants management and task tracking areas.
- Access: Recruiters have full access to the Respondents View and the Task Completion View.
- Permissions: Within these two specific views, Recruiters can see and do everything a Moderator can.
- Recruiters do not see the Dashboard view, therefore they cannot see the uploads submitted by participants.
Managing Your Team
Only the Project Owner can manage the project team. If you need to manage colleagues but are not the project owner, you'll need to ask the current owner to change your permissions.
Adding/ Managing Moderators
Moderators are research colleagues who can collaborate on the project. They can see and edit transcripts, add tags and comments, and have access to all project views. If you add new target groups, remember to link the moderators to them.
Method 1: From the Manage Projects Page
- On the Manage Projects screen, click the three dots (...) on a project card. 2. Choose Manage Moderators.
Method 2: From the Edit Project Screen
- Click the pencil icon or the three dots (...) and then choose Edit Project.
- In the left-hand navigation, click Manage Moderators. 3. Select the moderators you want to add from the dropdown list and click Next.
- Choose which Target Group(s) you would like them to be able to moderate, then click Save.
Adding/ Managing Observers
Observers are your clients or colleagues who need 'read-only' access. They can see dashboard views and respondent uploads but cannot edit transcripts, add comments, or export data.
- On the Manage Projects screen, click the three dots (...) on a project card.
- Choose Invite Observers. 3. Add the observer's email address (one per line) and click Next.
Control access to target groups: You can then adjust which target groups they have access. If you remove access to all target groups, the observer will be removed from the project.
Adding/ Managing Recruiters
A Recruiter is responsible for adding and inviting respondents, tracking their engagement, and sending reminders. If a recruiter is not added, a moderator can perform these actions.
To add a Recruiter, you must contact support@indeemo.com.
You can check if a recruiter has been linked by clicking the three dots (...) on a project card in Manage Projects and selecting View details.
Changing Project Owner
If you need to move Project Owner permissions to a colleague, follow these steps:
- On the Manage Projects screen, click the three dots (...) on a project card.
- Click Change Project Owner.
- Select a colleague from the list.
Your permission will automatically change to Moderator, and you will no longer be able to export media or manage the team. The new Project Owner will have to follow the same steps to change permissions back.
