Move or Delete Respondents from Your Project
Move a respondent
Before respondents register:
If you need to move a participant (perhaps you've added them to the wrong target group), this can be done before they register.
- On the Respondents view, hover over the participant's email and click the trash can icon. The participant is completely removed from the system.
- Simply re-add their email address to the correct group.
After respondents register:
If you notice this after they register, they cannot be moved.
We recommend that you use the Alias feature to remind yourself of the group they should be in.
You may choose to remove them fully (see below), and re-add them: the participant will need to re-register and re-upload anything they submitted.
Remove/ Delete a respondent
You can remove participants from your project, but the process and consequences depend on their registration and upload status.
Before respondents are Registered:
On the Respondents view, hover over the participant's email and click the trash can icon. The respondent is completely removed from the system.
After respondents are Registered and have begun uploading:
If you use the delete option (trash can icon), they will be fully removed from the system, and all of their submitted uploads will be deleted, and cannot be recovered. They would need to re-register to rejoin.
Best Practice: Always communicate to the participant that you are removing them prior to taking this action.
