Video Transcripts, Translations, and Subtitles

Indeemo automatically generates transcripts for all video, screen recording, and interview uploads. You can also now access automatic translations (for non-English videos) and English subtitles - all directly within your Indeemo dashboard.

Transcripts

Viewing Transcripts

When a video or screen recording is uploaded, or a file is imported, Indeemo automatically generates a transcript.

From the Dashboard view, each upload card includes a Transcript button; click Transcript to open the full transcript view.

Here you’ll see:

  • Timestamped text that lets you jump to a specific moment in the video by clicking a line of text.
  • video playback bar, including a playhead (the small dot that shows your current position in the video).

Editing Transcripts

You can easily make corrections or refine the transcript text:

  • Click Edit.
  • Make your changes directly in the text field.
  • Click Save to confirm your edits.

Note: Edits made here are saved within the video transcript view. If you later add a clip to a Reel, you’ll need to re-edit and save the transcript once again in that Reel.

Playback Speed

Use the playback speed selector to adjust how quickly or slowly the video plays while you review the transcript.

Playback speeds range from 0.75x to 1.75x.

Auto-Scroll

Enable or disable Auto-scroll to control whether the transcript automatically scrolls in sync with video playback.

When enabled, the text follows the playhead as the video plays; when disabled, you can scroll manually.

Translations

The Translation feature automatically translates non-English transcripts into English.

If your video is already in English, you won’t see the Translation tab.

It appears as a timestamped English version beside your original transcript.

You can click between the Transcript and Translation tabs to compare them.

Currently, translations are only generated into English.

Subtitles

The Subtitles feature allows you to overlay text captions on your videos within Indeemo.

Toggle the Subtitles On/Off in the video player.

When enabled, English subtitles display over the video.

Create and Share Clips and Reels from your Videos

The 'Create Clip' tool lets you extract, download, or re-use key moments from any video within your project.

Click Create Clip in the video player toolbar.

Use the two slider needles on the timeline to define the exact start and end points of the moment you want to clip.

Once selected, you’ll see two options:

1. Download Clip

Download the selected segment directly to your device.

The original full video remains saved in your Indeemo dashboard.

2. Add Clip to Reel

Add the selected clip to a new or existing Reel.

When you choose Add Clip to Reel, you’ll be prompted to:

  • Create a New Reel, or
  • Select an Existing Reel from your project.

This allows you to compile meaningful clips from one or multiple videos within the same project - perfect for storytelling, analysis, and presentations.

See step‑by‑step instructions for Reels.

Speaker Identification

Speaker Identification is available on Imported Video/ Audio files and recorded Indeemo Live Mobile Interviews.

If the media file involves multiple people (e.g., an imported interview), the system identifies speakers by default labels (e.g., Speaker 1).

By default, each speaker section will show a default label (e.g., Speaker 1 #Role not specified). You need to rename the speaker and assign a role (Researcher or Respondent).

  1. Editing Speakers: Click the Pencil icon/Edit next to the speaker's name. You will have two options:

    • Edit Speaker for all sections: Assigns the name and role to every part of the transcript where that speaker is detected.

    • Edit Speaker for just this section: Use this if a small part of the transcript has been assigned incorrectly.

  2. Confirm: Enter the name, choose the Role, and click the Save/Pink tick icon.
